The La Familia Resource Center in Lake Charles, La is an amazing non-profit group that truly reaches out and helps the community. Their goal is to help build up the community…they are a bilingual, multi-service, non-profit 501(c)3 organization, developed to meet the needs of multi-cultural families and individuals in the area. Their objective is to assist multi-cultural families in accessing the community’s resources. They build community by helping those with language barriers to cross cultural bridges into more productive lives. The center was started by Sylvia Stelly and it was easy to see her heart is behind everything they do.
To me, nothing is more worthy of notice than a group of people who are more than willing to help our community grow and to help those who are new to our community become welcome and at home here. The group I met while shooting the Fashion Show fundraiser was fun, full of life, and never lacking a smile. It made this already wonderful night, that much more of a blessing to be a part of.
